David Theriault

Two things spurred David Theriault's interest in reimagining what we do in the classroom.

The first was his own experience with school. While he loved learning and reading, he was not the best student when it came to grades. He still remembers that feeling when he works with his students. The second was the birth of his son. From the day he was born David knew that he had eighteen years to transform his son's K12 experience. He shares his experiments on his two blogs thereadinessisall.com and ideafm.org in the hope that we can get somewhere better: together.

I love being a classroom teacher, 2018 will be my 25th year of teaching high school ELA. In addition to teaching, I've been a department coordinator, tech resource teacher, WASC coordinator (twice), journalism teacher, and Academic Decathlon coach. Outside of the classroom, you can find me on Twitter @davidtedu and in small local restaurants trying to find something new... to share with my friends.

Brittany Conrad

I began my journey as a travel teacher teaching AP Lit/Lang and Comp in a 1:1 iPad school where I was able to learn valuable EdTech skills in my early teaching years. After earning my Education Specialist Instruction Credential, I worked in the Irvine Unified School District in both high school (teaching Directed World History) and elementary (Multiple Subject) settings. I have found a great family in my current district and am currently teaching Integrated Math 1. I am highly qualified in both Language Arts and Math and I recently earned the designation of Google for Education Certified Trainer.

At my current site (Norco HS), I am acting as Technology Site Champion and have helped get staff on board with piloting both Chromebooks and HP Streams by offering both small group and 1:1 training. I love the autonomy and instant feedback that technology can provide for both students and teachers.

Tawny Castillo

As a passionate art education advocate I center my focus on student understanding. Through art my students learn to listen, reason, practice, and produce in a meaningful manner. Skills such as problem-solving, perseverance, time management, and accountability help them successfully communicate visually and interpersonally their whole life. Overall my goal as a teacher is to nurture a constructive, creative environment that fosters communication and will help students realize their own unique potential.

Student use of Technology plays a crucial role in the learning environment of my classroom. In the past three years I have had increasing levels of access to technology in my classroom. With this technology, I have been able to make my instruction more accessible to a diverse variety of learning styles.
